Visitors In, Visits Out!

At St  Lawrence’s, we have  made a commitment to all our children to provide as many different opportunities as we possible can while they are with us.  Some of the visits and visitors we ask for donations from parents, others the school funds.  We believe that all our children should have equal access to high quality experiences that will stay with them and enhance their learning.

Please note: visits and trips during 2020 and 2021 have been very limited due to Covid 19.

Year 6 End of SATs Treat Trip

On Friday the Year 6 children went on a well and truly deserved end of SATs bowling Trip.  They all had a great morning!

Year 1, Year 4 and Year 5 Trip to Gilling Castle

In May the three classes had an amazing day  at the Countryside Learning Day at Gilling Castle.
The children took part in five activities: sculpting clay creatures, learning about the life cycle of a dragonfly, how to make and light a fire and spoke to the NFU about food miles and the environment.  The last activity was animal based and they met an obedient Labrador called Anna and a relaxed ferret called Chainsaw Charlie!

Year 4 Trip to the Van Gogh Experience

The Year 4’s had a fantastic morning at the Van Gogh Experience in March on what would have been Van Gogh’s birthday!
It was utterly wonderful, and the class thoroughly enjoyed it. It really brought all the things they had learned about VVG to life.
Miss Horrocks has officially passed on her lifelong love of Vincent Van Gogh to the next generation which is a superb feeling!

 Year 2 Trip to York

In February Badger Class went on a little exploration of the key landmarks in York as part of their ‘Our York’ topic. It was a lovely trip and ended with a picnic in class, prepared by Badger Class themselves!
Do you know that Clifford’s Tower is almost 1,000 years old? Because Badger Class does!

Kingswood

The Year 6 children have just returned from Kingswood Outward Bound Centre at Dearne Valley and they have all loved every minute of it and had a fantastic time.

Have a look at the photos below to see the exciting opportunities they had.
